Welcome to Brandon In Bloom Brandon in Bloom More than Just a Beauty Contest The name is deceiving. One may think it is all about flowers. WRONG !! Brandon in Bloom is about how we, the City of Brandon and its citizens, look after our environment. It’s about our history and culture – both past & present. It’s about working together – municipal government, businesses, organizations & citizens. Brandon is a great place to live because all sectors of our society work together to make it so. As quoted in the Manitoba Gardener magazine, “…. Brandon has now demonstrated, in a powerful way … that beautification and positive environmental stewardship is a community affair, and that a community, can be brought to embrace such an effort with enthusiasm, becoming participants in it.” Communities in Bloom is a national, non-profit Canadian organization committed to fostering civic pride. It began in 1995 with 29 Canadian municipalities, including the City of Brandon, participating. Since that time Brandon has continued its participation either in the competitive category or as friends of the community. This program strives to improve the tidiness, appearance and visual appeal of Canada’s neighbourhoods, parks, open spaces and streets through the imaginative use of flowers, plants and trees with a focus on environment awareness and preservation of heritage and culture. Residents of Brandon have for years shown a stewardship of green space and the trend is continuing to grow. It is through the energy and commitment of dedicated people that we succeed in keeping Brandon beautiful. Please help us boast about our successes. | |
